The Painting Program
Launched in 2021, The Mashach Project NPC Painting Program was created and designed to develop new work skills, create new job opportunities and beautify the Cape flats. The purpose of this program is to transfer spiritual capital in practical ways and boost social wealth, and wellbeing.

Our goals to restore value, hope and community while alleviating poverty, has driven us to compile this program from scratch and we are committed to see this program bring notable change within our communities.

Why
Following the national lockdown, the unemployment rate was at a record high. Even prior to the pandemic; hunger, crime and unemployment were waging war on the Cape flats people. This program aims to fight with them and for them. We are determined to defeat the stigma hanging over the Plain's people by rebuilding old ruins through rebuilding people.

Who
A detailed criterion will determine and shortlist candidates. Unemployed able bodied persons with dependants are some of the requirements to be considered. A maximum of 10 students will participate per class. Persons in rehabilitation centers will also included subject to program integration with their rehab.

When
Lessons will start in March and continue to November. Each class runs over a maximum of 8 weeks, consisting of weekly theory and practical sessions. Students will graduate at the end of their class and immediately receive a certificate of completion. An intensive option - doing the class in a shorter time - is available where conditions fit the criteria.

Where
Theory lessons will take place at designated locations within the Mitchells Plain area. Practical lessons will also take place within the local ward at beneficiary houses and public park areas. The location of practical test and work areas will vary but also be limited to the Mitchells Plain area, at first.

How
After recruitment and selection, students will be registered and allocated to classes. Each class consists of 4 modules. After the theory and practical tests, successful students will receive a certificate of completion. Alumni will be listed on our database and website to be provisioned for future work opportunities. Together with this, alumni will be integrated in to TMP for community projects - Mashach Program - to earn a wage. From there they are Boosted to launch their own business.
